Parenting is one of the most rewarding and one of the most challenging jobs around. Our Parent Enrichment Series helps parents, grandparents and caretakers by imparting skills, knowledge and competencies unique to parenting children of all ages. Learn about child development, challenging teenage attitudes, setting limits, bullying, and much more! Featured parenting experts from across Massachusetts share their insights and provide a “must see” experience.
DanversCARES participates in many community events. Our goals are:
- to get the facts out about issues that put kids as risk
- to raise awareness about harmful drug use: what, how and why kids use
- to help parents understand best ways to preventing youth drug use
- to provide family resources
Current Projects
Social Marketing Project
Sounds fancy? It’s not. It’s a way to say we are using special messages to change social behavior(s) in the community. Our social marketing team will: (a) review community data (b) pick a behavior related to substance abuse to change or to reinforce (c) work with an ad agency to produce a creative message and design and (d) disseminate the message!
The Strengthening Families Program (SFP) is for families with children ages 6-11. In what often feels like an over-scheduled world, this program provides a welcomed chance to spend time with your children while improving family skills. Families come together for an evening meal, and then separate into groups of parents and children. Each participates in creative learning through games, dialogue, and interactive sessions. New skills are practiced and reinforced when the group returns each week. The program is
12 weeks in duration and runs from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. in an accessible community site. Please contact us for information on the next session.
Special Projects are run by volunteers and incorporate environmental strategies (strategies that impact the whole community and that are researched and proven to have impact). If you have a special interest in one or more of these projects, contact Peg Sallade at pegsallade@danvers.org or visit to our blog page.
